Homemade Snickers Bar

Yes! Tis' true....
One of America's finest candy bars can now be made within the walls of your home!
I was food blog surfing and came across this recipe and thought,
"WHAT????....This cannot be true!...Homemade snickers bars?
I'M MAKING THIS!!"

So, I DID! I can't even try it, (in 5 weeks I will) but I wanted to make it just to prove this recipe was close to the real thing.
IT IS!
According to my students (my Sunday school students)
and my husband who were the prize earners of these treats today,
they were tested out and proved to be AMAZING!
the only thing not pictured is the whipping cream.

Complete Ingredient List: (they'll be divided up among the necessary layers)
2 1/2 C. milk chocolate chips ( I just bought 2 bags of chocolate chips and used ghiradelli chocolate)
3/4 C peanut butter (divided into three 1/4 cups)
1/4 C. unsalted butter
1 C. granulated sugar
1/4 C. evaporated milk
1 1/2 C. Marshmallow fluff
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
1 1/2 C. salted peanuts
1 14oz. bag of caramel
1/4 C. whipping cream

BOTTOM CHOCOLATE LAYER:
1 1/4 C. milk chocolate chips
1/4 C. peanut butter

Line a 9x13 baking dish with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter together in the microwave. (I cooked for 45 sec).

Pour into the prepared pan and spread until even.
Cool in the refrigerator until completely hardened.

NOUGAT LAYER:
1/4 C. unsalted butter
1 C. granulated sugar
1/4 C. evaporated milk
1 1/2 C. Marshmallow fluff
1/4 C. peanut butter
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
1 1/2 C. salted peanuts, roughly chopped.

Melt butter in a sauce pan over medium heat.

Add sugar and evaporated milk, stirring until dissolved.
Bring to a boil. Let cook for about 5 min., stirring occasionally.

Reduce heat to medium and add marshmallow fluff, peanut butter and vanilla, stirring until smooth.

Turn off heat and fold in peanuts.
 Pour over chocolate layer.
Cool in refrigerator until completely cooled.

CARAMEL LAYER:
1 14 oz. bag caramels
1/4 C. whipping cream
Combine Caramels and whipping cream in a saucepan over low heat.
Let melt, stirring constantly, until smooth.

Pour over nougat layer and cool in refrigerator.

TOP CHOCOLATE LAYER:
1 1/4 C. milk chocolate chips
1/4 C. peanut butter

Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter together in the microwave. (I cooked for 45 sec).

Pour over caramel and spread until even.
Refrigerate at least ONE HOUR before serving.
Remove bars  from the pan by lifting out the foil.

Cut into squares and serve!
Makes 24 squares.

Store in refrigerator.

Yes, this is somewhat a decadent treat! It's great to find recipes that claim to taste like something and that it actually is true. These will be a fun treat to make for birthdays or fun occasions....like Sunday afternoons with your family! :)

(I've never met this MANDY girl who cooks, but I tell you what, she is a great little chef!)
